ABUJA – Preparations for the maiden National Police Day are now in full swing as Nigeria Police Force officers across all 36 States and the FCT kick off a nationwide walkathon. The event, which began at 6:00 AM on April 5, 2025, saw participation from officers of all ranks and members of the public, all united in a bid to strengthen community engagement ahead of the grand finale on April 7.

The walkathon is part of a broader initiative designed to promote cohesion and mutual understanding between law enforcement and the communities they serve. This proactive engagement effort underscores the importance of inclusive policing and public support for the security forces.

In Abuja, Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, inspected parade rehearsals, exhibitions, and various preparatory activities at Eagle Square. The IGP expressed his satisfaction with the level of preparedness, highlighting the need for a well-coordinated and impactful celebration that duly honors the gallantry and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force.

IGP Egbetokun also urged citizens to actively participate in the National Police Day events, emphasizing that the success of these celebrations depends on the collective effort of both the police and the public.
