Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu Takes Over Leadership of Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Ikeja

Lagos, Nigeria – The Nigeria Customs Service has announced the appointment of Comptroller Mohammed Shuaibu as the new Controller of the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone A, Ikeja, Lagos. He officially assumed office on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, becoming the 28th Comptroller to lead the strategic Unit.

The brief handover ceremony took place at the Unit’s conference hall, where Comptroller Shuaibu pledged to bring his extensive experience and leadership to bear in advancing the Unit’s mission.

In his inaugural address, Comptroller Shuaibu appealed for the full cooperation and dedication of officers and personnel under his command, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to the Nigeria Customs Service's guiding principles—popularly known as the Seven Golden Rules or the “7Cs.” These, he said, should consistently inform the conduct and decisions of officers.

He expressed his gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, and thanked Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. He also voiced confidence in the Unit's capacity to achieve its core mandates under his leadership.

A seasoned customs officer with a distinguished career, Comptroller Shuaibu has held various key positions across multiple customs formations nationwide, gaining a wealth of operational experience.

During the ceremony, the outgoing Controller, Comptroller Kolapo Oladeji, urged his successor to sustain the momentum and build on the Unit’s existing achievements. He expressed confidence in Shuaibu’s ability to further enhance the Unit’s efficiency and performance.

Oladeji also extended his appreciation to the Comptroller General and the management team for the opportunity to serve, and thanked officers and men of the Unit for their unwavering support during his tenure.

The Federal Operations Unit Zone A, Ikeja, plays a critical role in enforcing customs regulations and combating smuggling in Nigeria’s South-West region.
