CONMMEP Congratulates Dr. Bolaji Akinola on Ministerial Appointment
LAGOS, NIGERIA – April 14, 2025
The Congress of Nigerian Maritime Media Practitioners (CONMMEP) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Bolaji Akinola on his recent appointment as the Media and Communication Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, His Excellency Adegboyega Oyetola.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Mcanthony Onuoha, the association described the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of Dr. Akinola’s years of impactful contributions to the maritime sector.
President of CONMMEP, Alhaji Tunde Umar-Daniah, praised Dr. Akinola as a seasoned media professional and a distinguished maritime communicator whose expertise and leadership have helped shape discourse in the sector.
“Bolaji Akinola is a consummate media practitioner and a perfect gentleman. His contribution to the maritime industry, particularly through his role as a journalist, publisher of Ships & Ports newspaper, and CEO of Ships & Ports Communication Company, is commendable,” Umar-Daniah stated.
He added that Dr. Akinola's wealth of experience in both maritime and corporate communication is expected to bring immense value to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, as well as the larger maritime media community.
"Given his track record and pedigree, we are confident that Dr. Akinola will make the maritime media community proud in his new role,” he said.
CONMMEP further expressed optimism that the appointment will create new opportunities for maritime journalists, encouraging greater synergy between the media and government institutions.
Dr. Akinola is widely respected for his insightful analysis and expert commentary on maritime issues, including port reforms, shipping development, maritime safety, and the evolving blue economy agenda in Nigeria.
