Lagos Island, Nigeria – April 25, 2025
As the momentum builds ahead of the forthcoming Lagos State Local Government elections, several aspirants have begun to make their intentions known. Among them is Hon. Biodun Coker, a respected philanthropist, youth advocate, and a loyal member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who formally declared his ambition to contest for the chairmanship of Lagos Island Local Government.
The declaration event, which took place on Thursday at the popular Oluwole Interlock Park in Lagos Island, witnessed an outpouring of support from community members, political stakeholders, youths, and beneficiaries of Coker’s various humanitarian initiatives.
Hon. Coker, known for his grassroots impact and dedication to community development, used the platform to unveil his comprehensive policy document titled “Irorun de” – The Impact Manifesto. His vision, he stated, is driven by a deep desire to elevate the standard of governance and bring measurable progress to the people of Lagos Island.
Speaking during the event, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Hon. Oladele Musbau Taiwo, described Hon. Coker as “The Pathfinder of Lagos Island,” calling on all residents to rally behind a leader with a track record of performance, integrity, and a heart for the people.
Empowerment and Proven Impact
In his address, Hon. Coker detailed numerous empowerment programs already carried out under his initiative. These include:

Coker emphasized that while these efforts reflect his commitment to human capital development, they are only the beginning. “Our people deserve more, and with your support, we will do more,” he promised.
The “Irorun de” Manifesto
His manifesto is built on six key pillars aimed at fostering inclusive growth, prosperity, and sustainable development within the local government. These pillars include:
-
Revenue and Market Development/Food Security: Introducing innovative strategies to boost local revenue, enhance market infrastructure, and ensure food availability.
-
Access to Quality Education and Digital Literacy: Provision of modern ICT centers in all public primary schools with a minimum of 20 computers each, alongside scholarship schemes under the Irorun Scholarship Program.
-
Community Development, Social Welfare & Security: Improved access to basic amenities, enhanced welfare for the elderly and vulnerable, and support for persons with disabilities.
-
Public Health and Sanitation: Strengthening primary healthcare services, promoting hygiene, and ensuring a cleaner environment.
-

As his campaign gains momentum, Hon. Biodun Coker continues to position himself as a visionary leader, ready to bridge the gap between governance and grassroots needs. His declaration marks a significant milestone in the political landscape of Lagos Island, with growing anticipation about what a Coker-led administration could mean for the local government.
