Killaboi Extradited to Nigeria Over Alleged Murder of Lead City University Student

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has successfully extradited Benjamin Best Nnayereugo, popularly known as “Killaboi,” from Doha, Qatar to Nigeria, where he will face prosecution for the murder of 21-year-old Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, a first-class student of Lead City University, Ibadan.

The suspect was flown into Nigeria in the early hours of Saturday, April 19, 2025, following coordinated efforts between the Federal Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja, Force Headquarters, and Qatari judicial authorities.

According to a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the extradition followed a petition submitted by the family of the deceased through their legal representatives on September 29, 2024. The case was subsequently assigned to INTERPOL NCB Abuja for further investigation.

Investigators revealed that Nnayereugo allegedly murdered Miss Onuwabhagbe at his residence on 13th July 2023, located at 24A Abiola Apooyi Street, Oral Estate, Ajah, Lagos. Shortly after committing the act, the suspect fled Nigeria and posted a video online, appearing to confess to the crime—a move police say was aimed at misleading investigative efforts.

He was declared wanted by the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department on October 13, 2023, and a Red Notice was issued by INTERPOL. Nnayereugo was first apprehended in Freetown, Sierra Leone on October 20, 2023, under a false identity, “Kanu Princeton Samuel,” but later escaped during a prison break on November 26, 2023.

Further intelligence tracked his movements across West Africa, East Asia, and eventually to Doha, Qatar, where he had been living under another fake identity, “Toure Abdoulaye,” using a forged Guinean passport. He secured illegal employment and evaded authorities until February 2025, when advanced biometric verification by INTERPOL NCB Abuja, in collaboration with INTERPOL NCB Doha, led to his arrest.

The extradition was formally requested and processed by the Federal Ministry of Justice and approved by the Qatari judicial authorities, enabling the fugitive’s return to Nigeria.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commended the synergy between international partners in tackling transnational crimes. He expressed gratitude to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, the Qatari Government, INTERPOL NCB Doha, and the Nigerian Embassy in Qatar for their collaboration.

The IGP assured the public that the Nigeria Police will ensure diligent prosecution of the suspect, reaffirming the force’s commitment to justice and the safety of all Nigerians.
