NDLEA Lagos Command Cautions Parents Against Youth Drug Abuse During Easter Festivities

As Christians across the nation celebrate the Easter holidays, the Lagos State Strategic Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a strong advisory to parents and guardians, urging them to caution their children and wards against drug abuse during and after the festive period.

Commander of the NDLEA Lagos Command, CN Abubakar Liman Wali, gave the advice while extending Easter greetings to the Christian faithful at the Command headquarters in Lagos.

Commander Wali expressed concern that festive seasons often provide opportunities for youth to indulge in social gatherings where food and drinks may be laced with illicit substances. He warned that unscrupulous individuals exploit such environments to introduce unsuspecting youths to drugs.

“Parents must understand that if they fail to talk to their children about the dangers of drug abuse, someone else might – and that message may be damaging,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of early and consistent parental guidance.

The Commander also called on members of the public to support the agency’s fight against drug trafficking by providing credible information on the activities of drug dealers, peddlers, and barons within their communities. He assured that all information shared with the NDLEA would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

“We must embrace the spirit of ‘See Something, Say Something.’ This is the only way we can effectively cleanse our communities of the menace of illicit drugs,” Wali added.

He concluded by wishing Lagos residents a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration, free of drug-related incidents.
