Over 3,000 Members of Ifeanyi Uba's Political Structure Collapse Into APGA, Endorse Soludo for Second Term

AWKA — In a major boost to Governor Charles Soludo’s re-election bid, more than 3,000 members of the late Senator Ifeanyi Uba’s political structures have officially defected to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), pledging their full support for the governor’s second term.

The mass defection, which took place at a ceremony held at the International Convention Centre in Awka, brought together members of various groups formerly aligned with the late senator, including the Afa Igbo Efuna, Ifeanyi Uba Solidarity Movement (IUSM), Uba Disciples, Young Progressive Party (YPP), Ifeanyi Uba’s Foundation, and the Uba Nation Media Centre.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Emma Ezike of IUSM explained the rationale behind their decision. “We all know the late Senator Ifeanyi Uba had a vision for a better Anambra, but since his passing, we have decided to align with a political family that shares that same vision. That is why we are now supporting Governor Charles Soludo and have joined APGA.”

Echoing similar sentiments, Hon. James Oguejiofor, Coordinator of Afa Igbo Efuna, recounted his experience inspecting state projects initiated by the Soludo administration. “I was privileged to visit Okpoko, Ekwulobia, the Fun City, the New Government House, and other projects. I was impressed. That visit changed my perception, and I decided to join this government and bring my people along.”

Oguejiofor, who is from Oraifite, also called on creatives and entertainers, particularly from the Nollywood industry, to rally behind Governor Soludo and support his re-election in the upcoming November gubernatorial poll.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Soludo welcomed the new entrants into APGA and expressed appreciation for their endorsement. He described APGA as Nigeria’s first progressive political party since its founding in 2002 and recalled his cordial relationship with the late Senator Uba, including their last conversation before his passing.

The defection marks a significant consolidation of political forces within Anambra State ahead of the November election, positioning Soludo and APGA for a potentially decisive victory.
