Polaris Bank Reaffirms Commitment to NDLEA in Battle Against Drug Abuse and Financial Crimes

Lagos, April 21, 2025 — Polaris Bank has reiterated its commitment to supporting the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in the fight against drug abuse, trafficking, and money laundering in Nigeria.

The pledge was made by the bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Kayode Lawal, during a courtesy visit by a 15-member delegation from the NDLEA to the bank’s headquarters in Lagos last week.

Mr. Lawal stated that the partnership is driven by a sense of moral duty and shared values between both institutions.

“The essence of Polaris Bank is not just profitability but fulfilling a moral obligation to society. Our collaboration with NDLEA underscores our commitment to combating crime and protecting our communities,” he said.

Polaris Bank has been a consistent ally of the NDLEA, sponsoring advocacy campaigns, media sensitization, and supporting drug rehabilitation initiatives. The bank has also contributed infrastructure and tools to enhance the agency’s effectiveness.

During the visit, the NDLEA decorated Mr. Lawal in recognition of his and the bank’s contributions to national efforts against drug-related crimes. The bank’s Chief Compliance Officer, Mr. Charles Oso, was also honored for upholding rigorous compliance and anti-money laundering standards.

The NDLEA team, led by the Director of Assets and Financial Investigation and representing the agency’s Chairman/CEO, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (Retired), expressed appreciation for the bank’s steadfast support.

According to the agency, the partnership with Polaris Bank has been instrumental in enhancing its operational strategies and outreach, especially in supporting rehabilitation services and public awareness initiatives.

Under Brigadier General Marwa’s leadership, the NDLEA has ramped up efforts through advocacy, enforcement, and support systems, including the establishment of toll-free lines for individuals seeking help with drug addiction.

Also present at the event were Polaris Bank Executive Directors Chris Ofikulu, Abimbola Ozomah, and Sharafadeen Muhammed, who joined the MD in receiving the delegation.
