Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP assured of increased collaboration between the Police and the Council.
Dr. Ukeyima, who led a delegation to the meeting held at the IGP Smart Conference Room, commended the Police Force for its support over the years. He acknowledged the strategic partnership between both organizations, especially in the successful implementation of the Nigerian Port Process Manual (NPPM), which has helped promote transparency and efficiency at port corridors nationwide.
The NSC boss emphasized the need for continuous partnership to bolster enforcement operations, support port surveillance, and strengthen the Council’s monitoring capacity. “The Nigeria Police has been a critical partner in ensuring compliance and orderliness along the nation’s maritime routes. We hope to deepen this synergy for greater impact,” Dr. Ukeyima stated.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun expressed appreciation for the visit and described the Council as a vital stakeholder in Nigeria’s economic framework. He assured the delegation of the Police Force’s unwavering support in safeguarding port operations and enhancing national logistics infrastructure.
“We are ready to intensify efforts in supporting the Shippers’ Council through our Joint Task Teams and other collaborative frameworks. The marine and blue economy sector is crucial to Nigeria’s growth, and we will play our part to secure it,” the IGP affirmed.
The meeting was attended by members of the Force Management Team and other senior officers.
