Lagos Arewa Council of Chiefs, Orirede Foundation throw weight behind Hon. Olowa’s second-term bid
Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos – June 27, 2025
The re-election bid of the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, received a major boost today as the Arewa Council of Chiefs in Lagos State and the Orirede Foundation of Ward F formally endorsed him for a second term in office.
At a well-attended event, the coalition of Arewa leaders commended Hon. Olowa’s inclusive leadership, citing his administration’s support for the Northern community residing in Ibeju-Lekki. The endorsement came amid glowing tributes to the chairman’s developmental strides and peaceful engagement with all ethnic groups.
In his address, Hon. Olowa thanked God for the gift of life and expressed gratitude to the Arewa community for their peaceful disposition and cultural richness. He reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining the cordial relationship between the local government and the Northern residents, promising to deepen collaboration, especially in commercial initiatives that will enhance the area's economic growth.
“I am proud of the bond we share. I urge you to mobilize massively ahead of the forthcoming local government elections. Be assured that your interests will remain protected under this administration,” Olowa said.
The endorsement was led by respected northern leaders, including Alhaji Haruna Kuraja, Sarkin Alimosho, and Alhaji Hassan Awiyo, Sarkin Idi-Araba, who praised the Chairman’s efforts and the relative peace enjoyed by Northerners in Ibeju-Lekki. They raised Hon. Olowa’s hand in a symbolic show of collective endorsement.
Also speaking, the Sarkin Hausawa and Secretary of the Arewa Community in Ibeju-Lekki, Alhaji Musa Abubakar, and Alhaji Mustapha Ibrahim, lauded the Chairman’s open-door policy and responsiveness to their needs. Mallam Ibrahim Jagaba, SSA on Information in Alimosho Local Government, echoed these sentiments, assuring that the Arewa community across Lagos would continue to support Hon. Olowa’s administration.
In a related development, the Orirede Foundation of Ward F, led by Hon. Tijani Ibrahim Aluko, presented campaign souvenirs—including T-shirts, face caps, and banners—to Hon. Olowa in support of his second-term ambition. The symbolic presentation took place in the presence of political stakeholders, including Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, Leader of the Legislative Council, and former Lagos State House of Assembly member, Hon. Adewale Raheem Kazeem.
Other dignitaries present at the twin events included Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, Secretary to the Local Government; Hon. Aliasau Oladehinde, Special Adviser on Chieftaincy and Intra-Boundary Affairs; APC Party Chairman, Hon. Babatunde Eletu; APC Apex Leader, Hon. Monsuru Oludaisi Kazeem; former Council Vice Chairman, Hon. Odofin Jelili; and Hon. Idogun Surakat, among others.
