Sanwo-Olu commissions key infrastructure projects in Ibeju-Lekki, praises Chairman Olowa's innovative leadership

Lagos, Nigeria – June 11, 2025
In a colourful and well-attended event, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday commissioned several landmark projects in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, including a new administrative complex, a legislative building, a 400-meter standard road with drainage, and the ongoing Citrus Garden Housing Scheme.

The commissioning ceremony drew traditional rulers, community leaders, political dignitaries, and residents, all gathered to witness what was widely described as a transformational milestone under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Hon. Olowa for his foresight and dedication, describing him as “an apostle of innovation” whose administration has delivered meaningful infrastructure and people-focused initiatives. He particularly lauded the successful delivery of the council’s ICT-enhanced administrative secretariat, the BAT House, which he said reflects modern governance built on efficiency and quality service delivery.

“I want to sincerely thank the Executive Chairman for not just building these structures, but also recognizing the importance of collaboration in governance,” said Sanwo-Olu. “By delivering both executive and legislative complexes, as well as completing a standard road and pushing forward on housing, he has demonstrated uncommon leadership.”

In his welcome remarks, Hon. Olowa recalled the devastating incident in 2020 which necessitated the rebuilding of the council secretariat. He noted that his administration did not only rebuild but elevated the structures into modern, world-class facilities.

“Today is a testament to what we can achieve through resilience, vision, and the grace of God,” Olowa said. He added that his administration has recorded progress not only in infrastructure but across critical sectors like health care, education, skills development, and environmental sustainability.

The Governor also applauded the Citrus Garden Housing Scheme, describing it as a strategic project that will provide jobs and restore environmental dignity in Ibeju-Lekki, a region he referred to as a “global investment magnet.”

Among the dignitaries who delivered goodwill messages were Hon. Bayo Balogun, Member of the Federal House of Representatives; Hon. Mojeed Adebola Fatai, Chief Whip of the Lagos State House of Assembly; and other key stakeholders from various sectors.

The event also had in attendance the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat; the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Bolaji Kayode Roberts; traditional rulers, women leaders, members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National Association of Ibeju-Lekki Students (NAILS), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and the League of Imams and Alfas, among others.
