Lagos, Nigeria – June 12, 2025
As Nigeria marks the 2025 edition of Democracy Day, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has extended warm felicitations to residents and all advocates of democratic governance.

In a goodwill message released to commemorate the day, Hon. Olowa described democracy not merely as a form of government but as a true representation of the people’s collective will, values, and unwavering belief in the principles of freedom, justice, and equality.

“Democracy is a reflection of our shared aspirations and commitment to a just society,” the Chairman stated. “It is a day to celebrate the power vested in the people and to renew our pledge to uphold the rights and responsibilities that come with our democratic mandate.”

He called on citizens, especially the people of Ibeju-Lekki, to actively participate in the democratic process by making their voices heard and contributing meaningfully to local governance.

Hon. Olowa also encouraged residents to reflect on the democratic progress achieved so far while rededicating themselves to the continued development of Ibeju-Lekki.

“As we celebrate today, let us also remember the sacrifices made by those who fought for our freedom and democracy. Their legacy must continue to inspire us to strive for a better, inclusive, and resilient community,” he said.

He emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, mutual understanding, and respect among residents, noting that these are the pillars upon which true democracy is built.

Concluding his message, Hon. Olowa wished all residents a joyful and reflective Democracy Day celebration, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development.
