Hon. Olowa Flags Off Capacity-Building Workshop on Public Service Ethics and ICT Compliance
Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos – July 24, 2025
In a bid to enhance efficiency and professionalism within the public sector, the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has declared open a one-day intensive workshop focused on Public Service Rules, Code of Ethics, and ICT Compliance for mid-level officers of the council.
The capacity-building initiative, sponsored by the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government and facilitated by Bright Consults & Associates, drew participants from various departments across the council.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Hon. Olowa emphasized the importance of continuous training and re-training of government personnel, describing it as vital for effective service delivery. He charged the participants to take personal development seriously, noting that a well-trained workforce is key to the growth and success of the local government.
“To have the best hands in public service, we must invest in regular training. Everyone has a dream, but without capacity development, such dreams may remain unfulfilled. That’s why we are committed to building a knowledgeable and ethical workforce,” Olowa stated.
He further directed the senior management team to design and implement a sustainable plan for ongoing staff training, with a focus on improving administrative competence, financial procedures, and interpersonal engagement within the local government system.
Among those in attendance at the workshop were the Council Manager, Mr. Abiodun Oladipupo Otinwa; the Council Treasurer, Mrs. Shakira Osun; and the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Sotubo Adeyemi, alongside other top council officials.
The workshop is part of a broader strategy by the council leadership to strengthen governance and promote excellence in service delivery at the grassroots level.
