Ibeju-Lekki Holds Valedictory Session for 9th Legislative Council
Ibeju-Lekki, July 23, 2025 — The Ibeju-Lekki Local Government today held a valedictory service in honour of the 9th Legislative Council, celebrating a tenure marked by dedication, collaboration, and progressive lawmaking. The event, themed "A Legacy of Service: Celebrating Dedication and Progress," was held amidst dignitaries from various sectors and community groups.
The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, led the proceedings alongside his Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji. In his address, Hon. Olowa commended the outgoing council members for their unwavering commitment to public service and legislative excellence throughout their tenure.
“This occasion marks more than the end of a term; it marks the celebration of collective commitment, service, and resilience,” Hon. Olowa stated. “You have set a standard for dedication, and I urge you to remain steadfast in accountability, community engagement, and leadership beyond the chambers. Your experience remains invaluable.”
He encouraged the lawmakers to continue contributing to the development of Ibeju-Lekki and congratulated them for leaving behind a legacy worthy of emulation.
Leader of the 9th Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka Oluwafemi, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to the council chairman for fostering a smooth and productive Executive-Legislative relationship. He highlighted the passage of numerous impactful bills and resolutions that addressed critical needs of the people.
“We were able to meet the expectations of our constituents through unity, support from the Executive, and the commitment of all stakeholders, including the civil service,” he said.
Other members of the council also shared heartfelt reflections, recalling the camaraderie, challenges overcome, and milestones achieved during their tenure. A minute of silence was observed in honour of the late Hon. Sulaimon, who represented Ward C1 before his passing. Prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of his soul.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo; Supervisors of the local government; APC Woman Leader, Alhaja Mobi Raji; and members of the Ibeju-Lekki People’s Forum led by Comrade Jamiu Mohammed Adekoya and Tolu Ogunbiyi Pataki.
Also in attendance were representatives of the National Youth Council of Nigeria led by Comrade Yusuf Bello, and the National Association of Ibeju-Lekki Students (NAILS), led by Comrade Mopelola Hadiza Odubote, among others.
The valedictory event served as both a farewell and a celebration of the enduring impact of the 9th Legislative Council on the governance and development of Ibeju-Lekki.
