Thousands Welcome Governor Soludo as He Commissions Solution Market, Park in Ekwulobia
Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA – Over 10,000 jubilant supporters thonged the streets of Ekwulobia on Monday to welcome Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, as he commissioned the newly completed Solution Market and Solution Park, two major infrastructure projects designed to boost commercial activities and urban renewal in the area.
The projects, located in Aguata Local Government Area, were developed as part of the Soludo administration’s broader urban regeneration agenda, aimed at transforming Anambra into the “Dubai-Silicon Valley of Africa.”
Speaking at the well-attended event, Governor Soludo reaffirmed his government’s commitment to inclusive development. “What we are commissioning today is consistent with the APGA mantra of leaving no one behind. We are building infrastructure that improves lives, stimulates the economy, and provides dignity in commerce,” he said.
The governor described the market as a prototype of what modern marketplaces should look like, emphasizing the importance of creating a clean, secure, and functional environment for traders and shoppers alike. “Our goal is to ensure people can trade and shop in comfort and with pride,” he added.
According to Christian Aburime, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, the new market is the third constructed by the Soludo-led administration specifically to meet the needs of traders in Ekwulobia. The Solution Park, which complements the market, features a public transport terminal, expansive parking areas, green recreational spaces, solar lighting, water supply, and food vending facilities.
Aburime further noted that the facility will serve as a temporary and permanent hub for traders and transport operators affected by the ongoing construction of the Ekwulobia flyover, which is nearing completion.
Governor Soludo highlighted the collaborative framework behind the project, noting that it was developed in partnership with local authorities to ensure proper management and accountability. “Beneficiaries will receive shop allocations at no cost. Everything is transparent—those qualified have already been profiled,” he stated.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, hailed the newly commissioned bus terminal within the park as a legacy project that will significantly ease traffic congestion in the area.
Chief Evarist Ubah, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Markets, described the facility as a symbol of the complete urbanisation of Ekwulobia, transforming the once neglected area into a vibrant economic hub.
Also speaking at the event were Dr. Chibueze Offorbike, Mayor of Aguata LGA, and prominent businessman Chief Joseph Ezeokafor, who joined tricycle operators, bus drivers, and market women in expressing appreciation to the governor for what they described as a landmark achievement in grassroots development.
The commissioning of the Solution Market and Park marks another milestone in the implementation of Governor Soludo’s development blueprint under the “Solution Agenda.”
