Anambra Government Condemns Ogboji Killings, Vows Justice for Victims
The Anambra State Government has condemned in strong terms the recent killings in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area, describing the incident as senseless and unacceptable.
Reacting to the development, the State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended the government’s condolences to the families of the victims.
Mefor said the government has received preliminary reports indicating that the tragic incident may have resulted from an internal dispute, rather than being ethnically or regionally motivated.
"We want to assure the people of Anambra and Nigerians at large that this incident was not targeted at any particular ethnic group or state," the commissioner stated.
He further disclosed that the Anambra State Government has called on the police to launch a full-scale investigation to uncover those behind the attack and ensure they are brought to justice.
"We expect the police command to thoroughly investigate this heinous crime, identify the culprits, and prosecute them without delay. The government is committed to doing everything possible to ensure justice is served," Mefor said.
He urged residents of Ogboji and surrounding communities to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies as investigations continue.
The government also reaffirmed its commitment to upholding peace and security across the state.
"We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain law and order and ensure that every community in Anambra remains safe and secure," Mefor added.
