Union Bank Celebrates Resilience and Academic Excellence at Pacelli School Graduation

Lagos, Nigeria – July 23, 2025 — Union Bank of Nigeria, one of the country’s oldest and most socially responsible financial institutions, has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to inclusivity and education by celebrating the graduation of students at Pacelli School for the Visually and Partially Sighted.

The graduation ceremony, held on the school premises in Lagos, served as a powerful reminder of the potential and resilience of visually impaired students, and the importance of ensuring equitable access to education for all.

As part of its UnionCares corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, Union Bank played an active role in honouring the achievements of the graduating students. The Bank’s participation underscored its 108-year-old legacy of supporting vulnerable groups and promoting diversity, inclusion, and empowerment.

Speaking at the event, the Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Olufunmilola Aluko, praised the students for their determination and academic accomplishments.

“Union Bank proudly stands as a champion of inclusiveness and equitable representation,” she said. “Through our UnionCares initiative, we support vulnerable and underrepresented communities, and today, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of these young learners. Their success reaffirms our belief that with the right support, every individual can thrive.”

The UnionCares initiative is Union Bank’s flagship CSR programme focused on sustainable social impact across three key pillars:

  • Support for Vulnerable Groups: Empowering persons with disabilities and marginalized populations through inclusive programmes.
  • Education and Skill Development: Providing access to education and practical skills to foster independence and growth.
  • Community Well-Being: Enhancing the quality of life in communities through healthcare, educational support, and social welfare interventions.

Union Bank's collaboration with Pacelli School and similar institutions reinforces its dedication to driving positive change in underserved communities. By celebrating the success of these remarkable students, the Bank not only supports their journey but also promotes a more inclusive and enlightened society.

As the graduating class steps into a new phase of life, Union Bank remains committed to standing by their side—championing hope, equality, and the power of education.
