APGA’s Anambra By-Election Victory Reflects Democratic Credibility — Aburime

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has described its landslide victories in Saturday’s by-elections in Anambra State as a strong affirmation of good governance, electoral integrity, and the growing political maturity of the electorate.

Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Christian Aburime, said the results underscored the people’s confidence in both the Soludo administration and Nigeria’s democratic institutions under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

In the Anambra South Senatorial District election, APGA’s Chief Emmanuel Nwachukwu polled 90,408 votes to defeat his closest rival from the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 19,812 votes. Aburime described the outcome as “a referendum on Governor Soludo’s first-term performance,” noting that such overwhelming margins signal that voters are rewarding tangible achievements rather than empty campaign promises.

Similarly, Barrister Mimi Ifeoma Azikiwe secured victory in Onitsha North Constituency 1 with 7,774 votes, a result that further strengthens APGA’s representation in the State House of Assembly. Aburime said the decisive nature of the victories reflected genuine grassroots support, not political maneuvering.

He also commended the seamless collaboration between federal and state institutions, noting that INEC, security agencies, and the Tinubu administration created an atmosphere where the elections were peaceful, transparent, and credible. “This bipartisan commitment to electoral integrity deserves recognition and should be replicated in future polls,” he added.

Aburime further noted that Governor Soludo played a visible role in the campaigns, showing confidence in his administration’s record. The wide margins recorded across local government areas, he said, validated the governor’s grassroots-focused governance model.

While acknowledging that it may be early to link the by-election outcome directly to the November 2025 governorship election, Aburime argued that the results position APGA strongly for the contest. He stressed that Anambra voters are increasingly demonstrating political sophistication by prioritizing performance over propaganda and sustainable development over short-term gains.

“The people have spoken, and their message is clear: performance matters, integrity counts, and Anambra is ready to continue its journey toward sustainable development under APGA leadership,” Aburime declared.
