 Aroyewun Inspects Lajo Link Road, Promises Swift Government Intervention

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (OHA), on Monday, visited Lajo Community to inspect the deteriorating link road and the dilapidated bridge connecting Lajo to Ibeshe.

The inspection followed growing concerns from residents and traders over the poor state of the infrastructure, which serves as a major access route for economic and social activities in the area.

Speaking during the visit, Chairman Aroyewun described the condition of the road and bridge as “a matter of urgency,” stressing that his administration would prioritise immediate intervention to ease movement, boost commerce, and safeguard lives.

“The bridge and link road are central to the daily lives of our people. This on-the-spot assessment is necessary to guide prompt action and ensure government’s response is well-directed,” he said.

Community leaders, including the Chairman of Lajo CDA, Mr. Ayo Ajayi, and other stakeholders, narrated the hardships residents face daily. They appealed for quick government intervention to address the long-standing challenges.

In his response, Aroyewun assured them that their concerns had been duly noted and reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing critical infrastructure across the LCDA.

He was accompanied on the inspection by the Council Leader and Councillor representing Ward C1, Hon. Princess Basirat Adetutu Banjoko; his Chief of Staff, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; and several community leaders, including Chief Akeem Bamidele Raheem (Baba Adeen of Lajo Central Mosque), Mr. Saheed Shokeyo, Mr. Sulaimon Kayode (Baba Oja), Mr. Taiwo Kayode, Chief Rasheed Kareem (Balogun of Lajo Central Mosque), and Mr. Kabiru Baoku, Secretary of Lajo CDA.

The visit, observers noted, underscores the council’s hands-on approach to governance and its efforts to strengthen ties with communities in the push for sustainable development.
