Ibeju-Lekki Chairman Moves to Address Flooding in Abule Pan, Shapati, Igbojia, Desa
Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has carried out an on-the-spot assessment of communities recently hit by flooding following days of torrential rainfall.
Hon. Olowa, accompanied by members of the Flood Mitigation Committee, visited Abule Pan, Shapati, Igbojia, and Desa to inspect canal waterways linking the affected communities.
During the inspection, the chairman observed that human activities had obstructed the natural flow of water, a situation he said was largely responsible for the recurring floods in the area.
Speaking to residents and committee members during the visit, Hon. Olowa assured that the council would take urgent steps to clear the canals to ensure free passage of water and prevent future incidents.
The council boss recalled that only a few weeks ago, his administration inaugurated the Flood Mitigation Committee to identify the root causes of flooding in Ibeju-Lekki and recommend lasting solutions.
