Ikeja First Lady charges mothers on exclusive breastfeeding as local government marks World Breastfeeding Week

The First Lady of Ikeja Local Government, Mrs. Temitope Fausat Dauda, has urged nursing mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding as a critical step in ensuring the healthy growth and development of their babies.
She made this call while attending the commemoration of the 2025 World Breastfeeding Week in Ikeja, an event observed globally from August 1 to 7. This year’s theme emphasizes the need to promote, support, and protect breastfeeding practices around the world.
Speaking at the gathering, Mrs. Dauda expressed delight at being among nursing mothers and commended them for their dedication to motherhood and their support for the new administration in the local government. She described women as the backbone of every thriving society and encouraged mothers to prioritize their own well-being.
> “Your well-being is key to your baby’s survival. Eat well, rest well, and give your babies the best start to life through exclusive breastfeeding,” she advised.
The First Lady also seized the opportunity to call on women across the local government to remain united and support the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), stating that their collective support is vital to the successful implementation of the I.K.E.J.A AGENDA.
Earlier, the Council's Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Tawak, who led other health officials to the event, commended Mrs. Dauda for her consistent advocacy and support for health-related initiatives in the council. He reiterated the health department’s commitment to advancing the administration’s health goals.
The event was well-attended by health practitioners and key stakeholders from across the local government, underscoring the importance of community engagement in maternal and child health.
