Lagos Completes First Phase of Ogudu/Ifako Bridge Rehabilitation 11 Days Ahead of Schedule

Lagos, August 8, 2025 — The Lagos State Government has completed the first phase of the Ogudu/Ifako Bridge rehabilitation works, inbound Alapere, 11 days ahead of schedule, marking a major milestone in the state’s ongoing infrastructure renewal drive.

The project, which was initially slated for 50 days, was delivered in just 39 days. According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, the accelerated completion was made possible by the patience, cooperation, and support of Lagos residents.

“Your steadfast support has been the linchpin of this accomplishment,” Giwa said, praising commuters and residents for their understanding during the construction period. He also commended the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for maintaining order and ensuring smooth traffic flow despite the diversions.

With the first phase now completed, the government will immediately commence the second phase of the rehabilitation project. Giwa urged motorists to continue observing alternative routes, plan their trips carefully, and remain patient to enable timely completion of the works.

“This bridge is a transformative infrastructure that will significantly improve mobility and stimulate socio-economic activities in Lagos,” he noted.

The Lagos State Government reiterated its commitment to delivering durable infrastructure that enhances public safety, improves transportation, and strengthens the state’s economic backbone.
