NCC Hails Appointment of New Board Members, Pledges Support for Digital Economy Drive



Abuja — The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has welcomed the appointment of Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe as Chairman-designate of its Board, alongside other newly appointed Board members of the Commission and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the appointments, which the NCC described as a boost to Nigeria’s digital transformation agenda.

In a statement, the Commission said the new leadership team comprises “highly esteemed individuals of proven competence, with vast experience and impressive track records,” noting that their collective expertise would help steer the communications industry in the right direction.

According to the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, the appointees are expected to bring strategic insight, strong governance, and industry knowledge to strengthen the Commission’s regulatory role and support the growth of the digital economy.

The NCC also expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the appointments, pledging to work closely with the supervising ministry and the new Board in delivering on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
