NDLEA Promotes 20 Officers in Lagos Command

The Lagos State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has decorated 20 of its officers who were recently elevated to new ranks, in recognition of their commitment and contributions to the agency’s anti-narcotics operations.

The colourful ceremony, held in Lagos, was attended by senior management staff of the agency, family members of the promoted officers, and invited guests.

Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Zonal Commander, ACGN Stella Ngozi Ngiroke, commended the officers for their hard work, stressing that promotion in the NDLEA comes with higher expectations and responsibilities.

Also addressing the gathering, the State Commander, CN Abubakar Wali, noted that the elevation was both a reward and a call to greater service. He highlighted some of the command’s recent achievements under the leadership of the NDLEA Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), OFR. These include the seizure of large quantities of illicit drugs, prosecution and conviction of offenders, as well as the counselling and rehabilitation of drug users across the state.

“Promotion in the NDLEA is not just a change of rank; it is a statement of trust, recognition of merit, and a call to higher service to our beloved nation. With your new ranks come higher expectations of leadership, discipline, and sacrifice for the safety and wellbeing of Nigerians,” Wali said.

Among those decorated were DCN Chinyere Obianagba, Barrister ACN Buhari Shuaibu, and the State Public Relations Officer, ACN Malum Musa was part of the officers who received commendation letter for their hard work and dedication to duty.

The state commander also praised the families of the newly promoted officers for their sacrifices, describing them as “the unseen backbone of the NDLEA family.”

He encouraged officers yet to be promoted not to lose hope, assuring them that the agency values diligence and merit.

“This promotion ceremony is not just about individuals; it is about strengthening our collective mission. Lagos remains strategic to the success of Nigeria’s fight against drug trafficking and abuse. The officers decorated today are being called to play even greater roles in safeguarding our communities and protecting our youth,” he added.

The event concluded with goodwill messages to the celebrants, as well as recognition of the support received from the Lagos State Government in advancing the NDLEA’s War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign.
