Soludo’s ANSEC Awards ₦1bn St. Stephen–Isiokwe Road Project, Approves More Infrastructure Works

Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), led by Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has awarded the construction of the St. Stephen–Isiokwe Road to New Idea Construction Company Limited at a cost of ₦1 billion.

The approval was given during the Council’s 17th meeting, held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Light House, Awka, the state’s new government house.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Sir Law Mefor, said the road project is part of Governor Soludo’s broader plan to transform Anambra into a “Dubai–Silicon Valley” hub where business and economic activities thrive.

Other major projects approved by the Council include:

• Construction of the Ugwuaku–Ibugughu–Osu–Umuchu Road worth ₦2,754,734,086.72, awarded to Benejaf International Limited.
• Rehabilitation of the Amichi–Osumenyi Road, to be executed by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) at ₦670,968,919.05.

Mefor noted that ANSEC also approved a series of development projects across the state, such as:

• Supply and installation of solar street lights and earthing systems at Anambra Broadcasting Service stations.
• Construction of a solar-powered borehole and rehabilitation of five non-functional boreholes at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Uli Campus.
• Provision of hybrid-powered water supply schemes to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe.
• Provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities at Nkwo Umunze and nearby communities to address water shortages.
• Extension of WASH facilities to the Chief Jerome Udoji State Secretariat, Awka, for the well-being of civil servants.
• Supply and installation of electrical and mechanical equipment at General Hospital, Anaku.

The Council also cautioned against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, urging residents to verify facts from credible sources before sharing, particularly as the state approaches its next elections.

According to Mefor, these projects reflect Governor Soludo’s commitment to infrastructure expansion, improved public services, and sustainable development across Anambra.
