Arewa Community APC in Lagos Reaffirms Leadership, Moves to Strengthen Political Unity
The Arewa Community of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has reaffirmed its leadership structure following a reconciliation and dialogue meeting held on September 19, 2025, at the palace of the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos.
The meeting, chaired by Alhaji Aliyu Bambado, the Galadima of Lagos, resolved lingering internal disagreements and endorsed Alhaji Saadu Yussuf Dandare Gulma as the authentic Chairman of the Arewa Community APC Lagos State. Alhaji Shehu Sampam was also confirmed as Secretary of the Board of Trustees (BOT). Both leaders were charged to work harmoniously to strengthen unity and the political relevance of the Arewa bloc within the APC.
The reaffirmed executive structure, which had earlier been endorsed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and inaugurated by Lagos APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, covers all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos, ensuring grassroots inclusivity.
To consolidate zonal representation, new strategic appointments were also announced. Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko Auna was appointed Apex Leader for the Lagos-West II Senatorial District, overseeing 10 LGAs/LCDAs. Alhaji Danliti was confirmed as Chairman for Ajeromi LGA, while Alhaji Usman was named Chairman for Ifelodun LCDA.
The council warned that failure to align with the recognized leadership would undermine political unity and weaken the Arewa community’s influence in Lagos politics. Instead, members were urged to embrace the legitimate leadership to promote harmony, trust, and effective collaboration.
According to the resolutions, the Arewa Community APC intends to mobilize strongly ahead of the 2027 General Elections. Leaders highlighted the growing participation of Arewa members in the ongoing voter registration exercise across Lagos as proof of renewed political commitment.
The leadership also announced plans for the State Chairman of the Arewa APC to embark on a visitation tour across all 57 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos to consolidate unity and reaffirm the community’s political stance.
“The Arewa community remains a reliable and constructive partner within the APC family,” the statement read, urging party executives and stakeholders to fully engage with the recognized leaders at state, zonal, and local levels to strengthen inclusion and collective engagement.
