Customs Board Promotes 3,514 Officers, Appoints 16 to Management Cadre

The Nigeria Customs Service Board (NCSB) has approved the promotion of 3,514 officers across different ranks, alongside the appointment of four Deputy Comptroller-Generals (DCGs) and twelve Assistant Comptroller-Generals (ACGs), in a sweeping exercise aimed at strengthening leadership and rewarding merit within the Service.

The announcement followed the Board’s 63rd regular meeting held on Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, chaired by the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun.

According to details released, 3,312 senior officers were elevated from the rank of Comptroller of Customs (CC) to Assistant Superintendent of Customs II (ASC II), while 202 junior officers were promoted from Assistant Inspector (AIC) to Customs Assistant I (CA I).

The newly appointed DCGs are: AB Mohammed (North-West), GO Omale (North-Central), OC Orbih (South-South), and D Nnadi (South-East). The twelve new ACGs include MP Binga, CA Awo, AB Shuaibu, AT Abe, K Mohammed, B Mohammed, TM Daniyan, B Oramalugo, OP Olaniyan, B Olomu, IK Oladeji, and CC Dim.

Beyond appointments and promotions, the Board reviewed the Service’s operational performance, reporting that Customs generated ₦3.68 trillion in the first half of 2025—an 11.85 percent increase above projections. It also received updates on the ongoing Trade Modernisation Project, which has delivered new scanners, advanced ICT systems, and cybersecurity reinforcements to enhance clearance efficiency.

On disciplinary issues, two officers were demoted for misconduct while two others were reinstated after their cases were reviewed.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them through professionalism, transparency, and innovation.
