Conference 57 Chairmen Visit Lagos Speaker, Seek Stronger Grassroots-Governance Ties



The Chairman of the Conference of Local Government Chairmen in Lagos State, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Monday led his colleagues on a courtesy visit to the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa.

The visit, held at the Assembly complex, highlighted the commitment of local government leaders to deepening grassroots governance and strengthening collaboration with the legislature.

Speaking during the engagement, Hon. Olowa, who is also the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, commended the reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as bold and necessary steps toward re-engineering Nigeria’s economy and laying a strong foundation for lasting progress and prosperity.

In his response, Speaker Obasa reiterated the Assembly’s full support for the third tier of government, assuring the council chairmen of continuous legislative backing to consolidate governance at the grassroots.

The meeting, described as cordial and forward-looking, further reinforced the shared vision of both tiers of government to drive development closer to the people of Lagos State.
