Customs Concludes PR Officers’ Workshop in Kano, Honours Outstanding Personnel

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has concluded its 2025 Public Relations Officers Workshop in Kano, charging its personnel to embrace professionalism, innovation, and resilience in promoting the Service’s image and building public trust.

The five-day capacity-building programme, which ended on Thursday, September 26, 2025, brought together Public Relations Officers, communication experts, academics, and media practitioners. It focused on strengthening communication strategies, enhancing institutional transparency, and aligning PR roles with the Service’s ongoing modernisation agenda.

Speaking at the closing session, the National Public Relations Officer, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, applauded the dedication of participants and resource persons. He emphasised that the success of the workshop was a product of collective effort.

To formally close the event, a dinner was held in honour of officers, stakeholders, and facilitators. Representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, the Area Controller of Kano/Jigawa Command, Comptroller Abubakar Dalhatu, praised participants for their commitment and highlighted positive feedback.

“A professor told me that because of this workshop, the perception of the Nigeria Customs Service has shifted from negative to positive. I was happy to hear this,” he said.

Reiterating the need for sustained efforts, the Comptroller-General charged PROs to remain consistent in communication and to project the integrity of officers within the Service.

The workshop wrapped up with a cultural and educational tour across Kano State. Participants visited Minjibir Park, the Gidan Makama Museum, and Gidan Dan Hausa, while also experiencing traditional dances and entertainment — a blend of professional learning with cultural appreciation.
