Dangote Denies Ownership of Truck Involved in Enugu Accident, Identifies Real Owner
Enugu, Nigeria – The Management of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has refuted reports linking the company to a truck that was recently involved in a fatal accident in Enugu State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the company clarified that investigations have confirmed the vehicle in question does not belong to the Dangote Group but to Visco Investment Global Limited, an independent third-party operator.
“We are actively engaging with the appropriate agencies to determine why the truck in question was bearing our logo, despite not being part of our fleet,” the statement read. “Moving forward, increased scrutiny will be applied to prevent the unauthorised use of our brand identity, particularly the misuse of our logo on vehicles not affiliated with the Group.”
The company expressed concern over what it described as the “increasing spread of misinformation,” stressing that incidents are often hastily attributed to Dangote without credible evidence.
“While it is our policy not to comment publicly on individual cases, we are compelled to address the frequent misrepresentation of facts linking us to accidents involving vehicles that are not owned or operated by our Group,” the company said.
Dangote Industries further urged the public and the media to desist from circulating unverified claims and allow investigators to carry out their duties without interference.
The statement concluded by reaffirming the Group’s commitment to corporate responsibility, safety, and integrity, while warning against any attempt to exploit tragic incidents for malicious or financial gain.
