DSS should unite country, security agencies must cooperate — Primate Ayodele
Lagos, September 15, 2025 — Primate Olufemi Ayodele, Founder and Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has urged greater cooperation among Nigeria’s security agencies and called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to take urgent steps to preserve national unity.
Speaking at the church’s international headquarters in Lagos on Sunday, Primate Ayodele said agencies such as the DSS, National Security Adviser’s office (NSA), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and the Defence Intelligence (DMI) must “synergize” and share accurate security information so national interests are not compromised.
“The country needs security intelligence to move forward,” he said, adding that President Bola Tinubu must not “mismanage” intelligence received from security agencies. “Tinubu needs the security intelligence to achieve certain things that will move the country forward. He must use it very well.”
Primate Ayodele warned that shadowy cabals were working against Nigeria’s security interests and urged security agencies to act decisively. “There is something sensitive the DSS needs to know — they need to foil certain quarters to quell insecurity, to win the war on insecurity. They need to step on toes,” he said.
He also defended the independence of security services, stressing that the DSS and the army “are not used by any government” but will “do what is needful and what is right.” He called for greater public appreciation of security personnel and urged the NSA to collaborate closely with intelligence services to ensure prompt action when threats are identified.
