First Lady Calls for Stronger National Action to Safeguard Education

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for stronger national commitment to protecting schools and safeguarding education, stressing that securing the classroom is securing the country’s future.

She made the call in her message to mark the International Day to Protect Education from Attack 2025, commemorated on September 9, with the theme “Challenging Narratives, Reshaping Action.”

Senator Tinubu noted that while Nigeria’s security agencies are making significant efforts, the task of ensuring safe learning environments must remain a shared national priority.

“Education is the foundation of hope, and safeguarding it means securing our future,” the First Lady stated.

She also commended global organizations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, and the Education Above All Foundation for their contributions to advancing child education worldwide.

The International Day to Protect Education from Attack is observed annually to raise awareness about the importance of safe learning spaces, particularly in regions affected by conflict and insecurity.
