Ibeju-Lekki Council Receives Final Report on Flood Mitigation
Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos – September 9, 2025
The Ad-hoc Committee on Flood Mitigation and Planning has submitted its final report to the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, detailing the extent of flooding across communities in the area and proposing practical solutions to curb the menace.
Presenting the report on Tuesday, the committee outlined findings from its field assessments, which captured the devastating impact of flooding on residents, infrastructure, and the environment. It also recommended both short- and long-term strategies, including improved drainage systems, community sensitization, and the promotion of sustainable environmental practices.
In his remarks, Hon. Olowa commended the committee for its painstaking efforts, assuring that the council would thoroughly review the report and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to implement its recommendations.
He further stressed that his administration is committed to adopting proactive measures that will protect lives and property, while making Ibeju-Lekki more resilient to environmental challenges.
“This administration will not relent in ensuring that we find lasting solutions to flooding in our communities. We owe our people safety and security, and we will continue to work tirelessly to deliver that,” Olowa said.
