 Ibeju-Lekki LG, NGO Empower Over 200 Widows with Food, Cash Support

In a joint effort to cushion the economic challenges faced by widows, the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, in collaboration with the Grace Given Widows Charity Foundation, on Friday empowered more than 200 widows with food items and cash support.

The initiative, themed “A Father to the Fatherless, a Defender of Widows, is God in His Holy Dwelling,” was held at the council secretariat and aimed at alleviating hardship while promoting financial independence among widows in the area.

Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, while addressing beneficiaries, described the gesture as modest but symbolic, noting that it conveyed the message that widows are “seen, valued, and never alone.”

He commended the Grace Given Widows Charity Foundation and its founder, Mrs. Victoria Adenaike, for their commitment to the welfare of widows. According to him, the foundation goes beyond material aid by creating “a sanctuary where widows can find solace, encouragement, and the tools to rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.”

In her remarks, Mrs. Adenaike praised the council boss for his humility and dedication to service, describing widows as “unsung pillars of society” who often endure loss and economic difficulties. She said the partnership with Ibeju-Lekki LG demonstrated what compassion and action can achieve when combined.

Beneficiaries at the event received food items and cash donations to meet immediate needs and support small business start-ups.

Hon. Olowa further announced the introduction of a Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, which will run for six months to provide additional relief to widows and vulnerable residents in the local government.
