Interswitch’s Verve, Google Play Partner for VerveLife 8.0, Africa’s Biggest Fitness Party
Verve, Africa’s leading domestic payment card scheme and a subsidiary of the Interswitch Group, has announced Google Play as a strategic partner for the eighth edition of its flagship lifestyle and fitness event, VerveLife.
Now in its eighth year, VerveLife has grown into one of Africa’s most anticipated fitness movements, attracting more than 14,000 participants annually across Nigeria, Kenya, and Uganda. The event features high-intensity workouts, dance routines, and fitness challenges led by seasoned instructors, climaxing with an after-party.
The 2025 edition, themed “Elev8”, will kick off with a fitness tour across African cities before culminating in a grand finale at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Saturday, November 1, 2025. Stops include Enugu (August 30), Ibadan (September 13), Abuja (September 27), Kampala, Uganda (for the second time), and Nairobi, Kenya (for the third time).
Building on a Growing Partnership
Cherry Eromosele, Executive Vice President, Marketing and Communications, Interswitch Group, described the collaboration with Google Play as a step forward in enhancing participant experience.
“We are thrilled to take VerveLife to new heights this year. Our latest collaboration with Google Play reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional experiences that resonate deeply with fitness enthusiasts across Africa. Participants should expect exclusive complimentary merchandise, exciting rewards, and more exhilarating activities at VerveLife 8.0,” Eromosele said.
The partnership builds on Verve’s 2023 collaboration with Google, which allowed Nigerians to make purchases on the Google Play Store and YouTube using Verve cards.
Commenting on the extended partnership, Anthea Crawford, Head of Retail and Payment Partnerships at Google Play, said the relationship reinforces digital inclusion in Nigeria.
“This development not only simplifies payments for Google Play Store apps and services but also contributes significantly to a more inclusive digital environment for Nigerians,” she noted.
Africa’s Fitness Community Gears Up
With its blend of fitness, wellness, and lifestyle activities, VerveLife has become a platform for community-building and healthier living. The event has steadily evolved into Africa’s biggest fitness party, offering a space where fitness enthusiasts, Verve cardholders, and the general public come together.
As the fitness train prepares to tour cities across Nigeria, Uganda, and Kenya, Verve is calling on enthusiasts to join the movement toward healthier living.
