 Abiru Commissions Roads in Lagos East, Pledges More Infrastructure Projects Before Year-End

Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, representing Lagos East Senatorial District, on Monday toured several newly completed roads across Ikorodu and adjoining communities, reaffirming his commitment to equitable infrastructure development across the 16 LGAs and LCDAs in his constituency.

The completed projects include Ojokoro Road (Agric), Nurudeen Owolabi, Alogba (Lowa), Apena Jimbo, Jalajugbo, Ibu Owo, Agunfoye, Ojediran, and Andu/Oshikoya.

Jubilant residents, motorists, and community leaders trooped out to welcome the Senator, praising him for addressing long-neglected roads that had posed major challenges to movement and local commerce.

Among the community leaders was 92-year-old Alhaji Jimoh Folorunsho Alogba, who described the intervention as timely and historic.

“We never thought we would see this road fixed in record time. Senator Abiru has given us hope that responsive leadership still exists,” he said.

Another resident, Mutiu Abiodun Banjo, hailed the Senator’s style of leadership:

“We raised this matter not too long, and today he is here to witness the completion. This is the kind of leadership people want.”

More Roads to Follow

Senator Abiru disclosed that additional projects will commence before the end of the year in Somolu, Bariga, Agboyi-Ketu, Epe, Lekki, and other parts of Lagos East. Roads listed include Soji Oshodi/Mutairu/Okeme Street (Pedro, Somolu/Bariga), Olulonyo-Ebuwawa Road (Ikorodu North), Utuh Street (Mile 12), Ondo Street (Ajegunle, Agboyi-Ketu), Otolu-Ilagbo (Lekki), Rala/Oshokeji Street (Epe), GRA 2 Road, Alogba, Dagbolu Road, and Sikiru Musa Road (Ibonwon, Eredo).

Others include Ojuemuren Road linking Ita-Oloja/Express Road in Ikorodu North LCDA and Francis Okon Street linking Ijede Road to Ikorodu/Itoikin Highway. The second phases of Ojokoro Road and Agunfoye are also billed for execution.

‘Infrastructure for Prosperity’

Speaking during the tour, Abiru stressed that the road projects were a product of extensive consultations with residents and stakeholders.

“They are about easing the burden of residents, opening up communities for economic prosperity, and ensuring our people enjoy the dignity of decent living environments,” he said.

The Senator urged residents to take ownership of the new facilities through proper use and community-driven maintenance, stressing that sustainable progress requires collaboration between leaders and citizens.

Beyond Roads

In addition to infrastructure, Abiru highlighted his ongoing investments in education, healthcare, empowerment, and social support. Through his SAIL Empowerment Foundation, hundreds of young people are being trained in high-demand digital and tech skills, with many already placed in jobs.

With his #DoingGood mantra resonating across the district, the Lagos East Senator’s latest intervention further cements his image as a people-focused legislator who matches words with action.
