Nigeria Customs, Police Strengthen Ties as Force PRO Visits NCS Headquarters

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to inter-agency collaboration following a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, to the Service’s headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

The visit highlighted the importance of synergy between security agencies in strengthening strategic communications, public engagement, and institutional trust.

Welcoming the Force PRO, the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Assistant Comptroller of Customs Abdullahi Maiwada, praised Hundeyin’s humility and sense of responsibility, assuring him of the Service’s support.

Maiwada, drawing from his experience, advised the Police spokesperson to prioritize teamwork and resilience in navigating the demands of public relations within a security environment.

“Public relations is a learning curve. You will face stakeholders with different expectations, but teamwork remains the driving force for success. Build a committed team, harness the energy of young officers, and learn from your predecessors. These are the keys to leaving a lasting legacy as a spokesperson,” Maiwada counseled.

He further noted that the role of a public relations officer is particularly demanding during crises, stressing that professionalism, commitment, and resilience are vital to safeguarding the reputation of institutions.

In his remarks, CSP Hundeyin expressed appreciation for the warm reception, describing the visit as a symbolic gesture of partnership. He emphasized that effective security communication requires collaboration and pledged closer ties with the NCS in pursuit of shared national objectives.

The visit ended with a tour of the Public Relations Sub-unit and the Nigeria Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN), where Hundeyin was introduced to the Service’s growing communication infrastructure.
