One Killed, Two Injured in Ikorodu Road Crash

A tragic accident on Ikorodu Road has claimed the life of one passenger and left two others severely injured, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed on Tuesday.

The crash occurred at Idi-Iroko, inward Ogolonto, when a fully loaded commercial Mazda bus (registration number LND 490 SD) reportedly collided with a fast-moving truck (registration number EKY 121 YJ) while competing for right of way along the busy Agric axis.

According to eyewitness accounts and preliminary findings by security operatives, the impact of the collision was devastating. One passenger, who was seated at the doorway of the bus, was flung out and crushed under the rear tyres of the truck, dying instantly.

LASTMA operatives at the scene rescued two other passengers, a male and a female, with serious injuries. They were immediately taken by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to Ikorodu General Hospital for emergency treatment.

The remains of the deceased were later released to his family by the Nigeria Police Force, who also provided security at the scene in collaboration with officers from the Owutu Police Division.

Both the commercial bus and the articulated truck were removed from the road by LASTMA to restore traffic flow along the corridor, which had been heavily obstructed by the accident.

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, commiserated with the victim’s family and urged motorists to exercise patience, restraint, and responsibility while driving, particularly along congested routes such as Ikorodu Road.

He further reminded the public that LASTMA can be reached for emergencies or traffic-related incidents through its toll-free hotline: 080000527862.
