Oyo Acting Governor Inspects RAAMP Roads, Market Projects, Urges Quality Delivery

…Says projects key to food security, rural development

Ibadan, Oyo State – The Acting Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Bayo Lawal, on Thursday undertook an inspection tour of ongoing Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) roads and market upgrade projects across the state, charging contractors to ensure quality work and speedy delivery.

Lawal, who was accompanied by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye; Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Esther Owoeye; and Oyo RAAMP Project Coordinator, Engr. Mrs. Olufunke Ekundayo, stressed that the projects form a critical part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to rural development and agricultural transformation.

According to him, timely completion of the road and market infrastructure will ease the movement of farm produce, enhance market access for rural farmers, and strengthen Oyo State’s food security and economic growth agenda.

“The state government is determined to provide all necessary support to contractors to ensure these projects are completed to standard and on schedule,” the Acting Governor assured.

Commissioner Olaleye expressed satisfaction with the level of work so far, adding that his ministry would continue close monitoring to guarantee delivery within the stipulated timeframe and required quality.

Residents have also begun to feel the impact of the projects. A road user at Kunbi Village, along the Olowa–Ijaye Farm Settlement axis, Mr. Abdulrazaq Seriki, commended the state government, noting that the road had long posed a major challenge for farmers trying to transport produce to markets.

During the inspection, the Acting Governor’s team visited key RAAMP projects, including the 21.95 km Olokoyo–Ikere Dam Road and the Oja Agbe Market in Iseyin, as well as the 31.7 km Alako–Idiya–Batake–Olowa Ijaye Farm Settlement Road.

The RAAMP initiative is designed to connect rural communities through improved road networks and upgraded market infrastructure, creating better access to opportunities for farmers and traders across Oyo State.
