…Polypropylene demand spikes as visitors troop to Dangote stand
Algiers, Algeria – Prominent African and Caribbean leaders have praised the transformative impact of Dangote Industries Limited on the continent’s economy at the ongoing 2025 Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF) in Algiers.
Among the dignitaries who visited the Dangote exhibition stand on Friday were the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell; the Prime Minister of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew; Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal.
The leaders, who led separate delegations, commended the group’s multi-sector investments across Africa, which they said have contributed significantly to industrial growth and socio-economic development. They were received by Engr. Mansur Ahmed, Special Adviser to the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote; Group Head, Commercial Foods, Garba EL-Suleiman; and other senior executives.
One of the busiest stands at the continental trade showcase, Dangote’s booth has attracted a surge of inquiries, particularly about polypropylene (PP) — a major output of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery. Polypropylene, a thermoplastic polymer, is widely used in manufacturing products such as food containers, textiles, and automobile components due to its durability, heat resistance, and versatility.
As a Premier Partner of the fair, Dangote Industries is showcasing its expansive portfolio, which spans cement, fertilisers, petrochemicals, refined petroleum products, sugar, salt, and logistics. The conglomerate operates more than 18 subsidiaries, positioning itself as a critical driver of Africa’s industrialisation agenda. Dangote Special Day is scheduled for Saturday at the fair.
Organised by Afreximbank in collaboration with the African Union Commission and the AfCFTA Secretariat, and hosted by the Algerian government, IATF 2025 is bringing together over 2,000 exhibitors from Africa and beyond. The week-long event, which runs from September 4 to 10, is expected to generate trade and investment deals exceeding US$44 billion.
Dangote’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, said the conglomerate’s participation underscores its commitment to fostering Africa’s economic integration.
