Road Rehabilitation Begins on Ilemere–Oshorun Axis as Aroyewun Hails Jimi Benson

The long-neglected Ilemere–Oshorun Road in Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) is set for rehabilitation, following the intervention of Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Chairman of the LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun, on Thursday, applauded Benson for approving the project, describing it as a lifeline for residents and businesses that rely on the 1.8-kilometre stretch.

Aroyewun, who led a joint inspection of the road with Vice Chairman Barr. Ade Ayeni, Ward C4 Councillor Hon. Yusuf Bello, and Asiwaju of Ibeshe Kingdom, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, said the rehabilitation would ease years of hardship endured by commuters, traders, and schoolchildren.

“Hon. Babajimi Benson has once again proven his commitment to grassroots development. This is not just another road project; it is a decisive intervention that will reduce the burden on thousands who depend on this corridor daily,” he said.

The inspection covered the route from AP Junction at Ibeshe through Idi-Oro and Ilemere, terminating at Abule Oshorun. Aroyewun noted that the corridor is a critical link between several Ibeshe communities and the Igbogbo/Baiyeku main road, adding that its poor condition had stifled commerce and hampered movement for years.

“With JB’s intervention, we can now anticipate a safer and more accessible Ilemere–Oshorun corridor. This rehabilitation will boost mobility and rekindle confidence in infrastructural renewal within our LCDA,” he added.

Community leaders also welcomed the development. Asiwaju Olusanya commended the collaboration between Benson and Aroyewun, describing it as “a model of cooperative governance that puts people’s needs above politics.”

Residents expressed excitement over the rehabilitation, praising Benson for his responsiveness and Aroyewun for championing their demand.

The project will be executed by LaraLek Construction, an indigenous firm with a track record in road delivery. Work is expected to begin shortly, with expectations that the Ilemere–Oshorun corridor will soon become a reliable route supporting commerce and connectivity across the LCDA.
