9PSB Champions Financial Literacy for Youths at Liberty Career Academy Summer Camp
As part of its commitment to promoting financial inclusion and youth empowerment, 9 Payment Service Bank (9PSB), Nigeria’s first payment service bank, recently conducted a financial literacy session for young participants at the Liberty Career Academy (LCA) Summer Camp.
The session, held under the Academy’s Career and Stewardship (CAS) Programme, equipped teenagers and young adults with practical knowledge on how to manage their finances, make informed money decisions, and lay the groundwork for long-term financial success.
The Career and Stewardship (CAS) initiative was established to guide young people in identifying career paths and acquiring life skills that support personal and professional growth.
Partnering with LCA, 9PSB designed an interactive training session that emphasized the importance of budgeting, saving, investing, goal setting, and responsible spending. Participants were also exposed to the benefits of financial discipline and the dangers of scams and poor money management.
Speaking during the session, Alvin Afadama, Public Relations Specialist at 9PSB, described financial literacy as an essential life skill.
“The earlier young people learn about financial management, the better equipped they are to make smart decisions that impact their future. At 9PSB, we believe empowering the next generation with this knowledge is key to building a financially inclusive and economically resilient Nigeria,” he said.
According to Gbenga Rufai, Founder and President of Liberty Career Academy, the inclusion of financial literacy in the camp’s curriculum has been a core part of its mission for nearly a decade.
“For the past nine years, we have incorporated financial literacy modules in our annual summer bootcamp. This year, we are delighted to have 9PSB handle that segment for over 200 participants,” Rufai stated.
9PSB noted that its involvement in the program aligns with its broader goal of driving financial education and inclusion across Nigeria, especially among underserved and younger populations.
