Aroyewun Celebrates Igbogbo/Baiyeku Girls, Hails Their Courage and Leadership on International Day of the Girl Child

The Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), has joined the global community in celebrating the resilience, courage, and leadership of girls within his council area and across the world as part of activities marking the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child.
In a goodwill message released on Saturday, Aroyewun commended the “resilient girls of Igbogbo/Baiyeku” for their exceptional spirit and determination, describing them as vital contributors to community growth and positive change.
“Today, we honour your incredible spirit, your boundless potential, and your exceptional courage,” the Chairman stated.
He noted that this year’s global theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Frontlines of Crisis,” underscores the powerful role of girls as agents of transformation, not passive victims of circumstance.
“This theme acknowledges a profound truth — our girls are not just facing challenges but leading the way in overcoming them. Whether in our communities, schools, or families, we see girls stepping up with remarkable bravery, intelligence, and compassion to lead, to heal, and to innovate,” Aroyewun said.
Highlighting examples of leadership among young girls in Igbogbo/Baiyeku, the council boss praised those who champion education, drive innovation, and support their peers through acts of kindness and advocacy. He described them as “leaders not only of tomorrow but of today,” shaping their environment through initiative and determination.
Aroyewun urged young girls to remain confident in their potential and committed to their dreams, assuring them that the council recognises and supports their aspirations.
“To every girl in Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA: never doubt the power of your voice or the strength of your dreams. The girl you are today is the change-maker our world needs. We see you, we celebrate you, and we stand with you,” he said.
The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to empowering girls and young women through inclusive education, community development, and youth-oriented programmes aimed at nurturing leadership and self-confidence.
As the world celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child 2025, Aroyewun expressed profound respect and admiration for the contributions of young girls in building stronger families and communities.
“You are the heartbeat of our collective future,” he concluded.
