The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his timely intervention in preventing what it described as a potentially disruptive action by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) against the company.

In a statement issued over the weekend, the refinery said the President’s decisive leadership, through the efforts of his ministers and senior government officials, was instrumental in restoring calm and ensuring stability within the nation’s energy sector at a critical time.

“Dangote Refinery is grateful to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Tinubu, GCFR, for his intervention, through his ministers and senior officials, which resulted in the abatement of the disruptive actions of PENGASSAN against the Refinery,” the statement read.

The company specifically commended the roles played by Nigeria’s security chiefs, led by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu; the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Adeola Toyin Ajayi; and the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Mr. Mohammed Mohammed, noting that they “worked tirelessly to restore normalcy.”

It also appreciated other key officials who were actively involved in resolving the crisis, including the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

“We remain very grateful to these officials for their patriotism and national service,” the refinery stated.

Appreciation to Nigerians and Workforce

Dangote Refinery also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their overwhelming support throughout the period of industrial tension, describing it as a “humbling and energizing show of solidarity.”

“To Nigerians of all walks of life, we owe you more than a debt of gratitude. Your support for our righteous cause was overwhelming. You gave us hope and reinforced our belief in the Nigerian nation and people as the backbone of our enterprise,” the statement added.

The company also praised its employees for their loyalty and dedication during the crisis, noting that operations were not disrupted despite external pressures.

“To our loyal workers who ensured our operations continued seamlessly, we thank you. The strength of the Dangote Group lies in our people and their unalloyed dedication to our mission and vision,” the company said, assuring that workers would continue to be “handsomely rewarded and protected.”

Commitment to Labour Standards and National Development

Reaffirming its position as one of Nigeria’s largest private-sector employers, the refinery stated that the Dangote Group remains committed to fair employment practices, workers’ welfare, and national economic progress.

“The Dangote Group is recognized as one of Nigeria’s model employers and the largest contributor to the nation’s tax revenues. Our compensation framework is benchmarked against international standards and designed to protect employee welfare, uphold dignity in labour, and provide a safe, enabling workplace,” the statement noted.

Commendation for the Judiciary

The company further lauded the Nigerian judiciary for upholding justice and the rule of law during the dispute, emphasizing its role as “a bastion of hope” for all Nigerians.

“The judiciary stood up for the truth and proved itself as a just arbiter, even in the face of intimidation and disregard for lawful orders by certain actors. We remain grateful for their courage and professionalism,” the refinery said.

Renewed Pledge to Nigeria

Concluding, Dangote Refinery reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to national service and industrial growth, pledging to continue contributing to Nigeria’s energy security and economic stability.

“We will not relent in serving the Nigerian nation faithfully and diligently through the uninterrupted production of petroleum products. Our commitment to Nigeria and its people remains undiluted and unshaken, despite distractions from detractors and saboteurs,” the statement concluded.
