Hon. Babajimi Benson, Chairman Aroyewun Inspect Ongoing Federal Road Projects in Igbogbo/Baiyeku

In a fresh move to fast-track infrastructure development within the Ikorodu axis, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson (JB), on Friday, October 17, led an inspection tour of ongoing federal road projects across Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

He was accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA); Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Adedayo Ladega; Chairman of Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Ameen Apanishile; members of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku Legislative Council; as well as representatives of the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs).

The tour focused on assessing the pace and quality of federal road projects facilitated by Hon. Benson — projects designed to boost mobility, enhance trade, and stimulate socio-economic growth within Igbogbo/Baiyeku and neighbouring communities.

Among the inspected routes were the Offin/Oreta Road, Selewu Road, and Olu-Odo Road — all of which form vital links connecting several communities across the LCDA.

At the 13-kilometre Offin/Oreta Road, the team inspected drainage construction, culvert installations, and preparations for solar streetlight fittings. According to the contractor, the project remains on schedule and is expected to be completed by December 2025.

Work on the Selewu Road has reached an advanced stage, with drainage systems completed and base layers underway, while the Olu-Odo Road project is nearing completion with asphalt already being laid. All projects are being executed in line with strict engineering specifications, featuring durable pavement systems, functional drainage, and solar-powered lighting.

Speaking during the tour, Chairman Aroyewun hailed Hon. Benson’s consistent contributions to Ikorodu’s growth, describing him as “a blessing and pride to our constituency whose visionary leadership continues to deliver tangible progress.”

“Hon. Babajimi Benson has consistently shown what true representation means. His advocacy and influence at the federal level have brought visible transformation to Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. We are proud of his legacy of purposeful service,” Aroyewun said.

The inspection team received a warm reception from residents and school children, especially in the Selewu area, where excited crowds trooped out to welcome Hon. Benson and his entourage — a reflection of the community’s appreciation for the ongoing development.

Chairman Aroyewun also commended the CDCs and CDAs for their collaboration with the council and urged continued community participation in sustaining grassroots development. He praised the contractors for adhering to professional standards and assured residents of continuous supervision to ensure timely project delivery.

“These roads are already transforming our communities,” Aroyewun said. “Once completed, they will further open up our local economy, ease movement, and improve the quality of life for our people.”

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with Hon. Benson and other stakeholders to sustain the momentum of development across Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA.
