Africa’s digital transformation journey cannot thrive on innovation alone — it must be built on trust and robust infrastructure. That was the core message from Interswitch, Africa’s leading integrated payments and digital commerce company, during its thought-provoking participation at Moonshot by TechCabal 2025, Africa’s largest gathering of technology leaders and digital innovators.

Held at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, this year’s Moonshot conference brought together industry pioneers, investors, policymakers, and creators shaping the continent’s digital future. Delivering the keynote address, Akeem Lawal, Managing Director of Payments Processing and Switching (Interswitch Purepay), emphasized that Africa’s next phase of digital growth will depend on the strength and scalability of its digital infrastructure.

“Africa’s tech ecosystem has moved beyond emergence; it’s now in acceleration mode,” Lawal said. “But sustaining that momentum requires secure, scalable, and interoperable systems that evolve alongside the continent’s growth. Innovation may spark progress, but enduring systems sustain it.”

“No ecosystem thrives in isolation. Our progress depends on how well we can unlock capital and convert it into the infrastructure that powers real innovation,” he noted.
