Oyo Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency in 2026 Budget Implementation

The Oyo State Government has reiterated its commitment to transparency, accountability, and prudent management of public resources in the implementation of the 2026 budget.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, gave the assurance during a two-day consultative meeting on the 2026 budget held in Iseyin and Ogbomoso.

Prof. Babatunde said the upcoming fiscal plan would deepen good governance in the state by ensuring that every allocation is judiciously utilized in line with the government’s developmental priorities.

Speaking at the Iseyin session, the Commissioner for Special Duties, Mrs. Faosat Sanni, reaffirmed that the state government would implement the 2026 budget strictly in accordance with approved projects and best financial management practices.

She commended Governor Seyi Makinde for his commitment to infrastructure development, citing the Iseyin–Fapote–Ogbomoso Road as a major project that has enhanced connectivity and economic activities within the state.

“The road is a testament to Governor Makinde’s vision of fostering growth, linking major regions, and improving access for investors, local businesses, and residents,” Mrs. Sanni said.

While acknowledging the challenges encountered during the 2025 capital budget implementation, she assured that the state government remains determined to execute all planned projects before the end of the current administration.

At the Ogbomoso meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, assured residents of better welfare and more dividends of democracy in the 2026 fiscal year.

He lauded citizens for their continuous support for the Makinde-led administration and pledged that the government would intensify efforts to deliver more people-oriented projects across the state.

“I want to assure you that Governor Seyi Makinde will act with renewed speed to deliver greater development before 2027. His leadership has already opened doors of opportunity and progress for the people of Oyo State,” Oyelade stated.

The consultative meetings are part of the government’s inclusive budgeting process aimed at engaging stakeholders and ensuring that citizens’ needs are reflected in the state’s 2026 budget.
