Oyo Govt Seeks Stakeholders’ Inputs on 2026 Budget, Assures Oke-Ogun Residents of Security

Saki, Oyo State — The Oyo State Government has called on residents of the Oke-Ogun region to make meaningful contributions to the proposed 2026 state budget, as part of its inclusive governance drive aimed at ensuring that citizens’ needs shape government policies and programmes.

The call was made by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Adebayo Lawal, during the 2026 Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting held on Tuesday at the Saki Township Hall.

Lawal explained that the consultative meeting provides an opportunity for citizens to actively participate in the budgeting process, while also receiving updates on the performance of the 2025 fiscal year budget.

He noted that the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration remains committed to implementing citizens’ inputs gathered from previous consultations, stressing that several of such suggestions had been integrated into past budgets.

“This exercise is designed to give you — the people of Oyo State — a voice in how government resources are allocated. We are proud to say that your previous contributions have influenced our policies and projects,” Lawal said.

He assured residents that all ongoing projects initiated after the 2025 consultative meetings will be completed before the end of the present administration’s second term.

On security, the Deputy Governor reaffirmed government’s commitment to strengthening safety across Oke-Ogun, especially on major roads, entry and exit points, and other strategic locations in the zone.

“We will leave no stone unturned in securing Oke-Ogun. Our security agencies are working round the clock to ensure miscreants are identified and dealt with in accordance with the law,” he stated.

Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Prof. Musibau Babatunde, emphasized the importance of civic engagement in achieving an effective and people-centered budget.

He urged residents to continue fulfilling their civic responsibilities, including prompt tax payments, adding that the consultative sessions are being held across all zones of the state to gather wide-ranging inputs.

“Governor Seyi Makinde has your interests at heart. This meeting is a crucial step in the formulation of the 2026 budget, ensuring that citizens’ voices guide our planning and priorities,” Babatunde said.

Community representatives, religious leaders, market women, artisans, and student leaders were among those who presented their requests and proposals during the meeting.

Also in attendance were top government officials from the region and traditional rulers, who commended the state government’s participatory approach to governance.
