Anambra Residents Tip Governor Soludo for Easy Victory Ahead of Gubernatorial Election
As Anambra State heads to the polls on November 8, 2025, many residents have expressed confidence that the election will be an easy win for the incumbent governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, whom they describe as a visionary leader whose administration has transformed the state.
Across communities, citizens say the governor’s achievements in infrastructure, education, health, security, and economic empowerment have endeared him to the people, making him the clear favorite to continue in office.
Ogbonna Uzor, a resident of Okpoko, described Soludo as a “jinx breaker,” applauding the governor for the regeneration of the once-neglected slum. “We now have new roads, water facilities, and a general hospital offering free antenatal care and education for children. Okpoko has changed for the better under Soludo,” he said.
A cab driver at the Anambra airport, Chinedu Ezekwe, noted that while opposition parties — particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) — are trying to sway voters, most people believe Governor Soludo deserves a second term. “Anambra is for the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). Soludo has done what others could not,” he said.
He commended the governor for completing landmark projects, including the long-awaited Government House, dubbed the Light House, and new recreational infrastructure such as the Solution Fun City. Ezekwe also praised the administration’s youth empowerment programmes, which have created jobs and promoted entrepreneurship.
Mrs. Chukwura Ifeyinwa from Anaocha echoed the same sentiment, saying, “Governor Soludo is our man. We trust him, and we’re ready to vote for him again.”
From Ekwulobia, Ms. Ada Eze said that despite attempts by the opposition to downplay his achievements, the governor’s record in infrastructure and governance stands tall. “He has surpassed his predecessors. Our votes will go to him again,” she said.
Governor Soludo’s administration is anchored on five pillars: security; infrastructure and economic transformation; human capital and social development; governance and value reorientation; and environmental sustainability.
Under his leadership, Anambra State recently ranked first in Nigeria’s 2025 State of States Fiscal Performance Index by BudgIT, earning national recognition for its fiscal discipline and governance reforms. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also commended the governor’s progressive leadership, describing him as a long-time ally committed to national development.
In education, the Soludo administration has employed 8,115 new teachers, renovated schools, and introduced free education for pupils in public schools. The government has also upgraded tertiary institutions and established digital learning initiatives.
In healthcare, five new general hospitals have been built and others renovated, with free medical services for pregnant women and telemedicine introduced to expand access.
To tackle insecurity, the governor signed the Homeland Security Law, leading to the creation of Agunechemba — a state-backed security outfit — and Operation Udo Ga-Achi, which have both contributed to a significant decline in crime rates.
Soludo’s administration has also empowered over 30,000 youths with digital skills and introduced digital governance systems aimed at transparency and efficiency.
As election day approaches, public sentiment across Anambra appears firmly behind Governor Soludo, with many residents viewing the upcoming vote as more of a coronation than a contest.
