Kaduna to Host $450 Million National Integrated Poultry Project, Set to Create 350,000 Jobs

Kaduna State is set to become the launchpad for the National Integrated Poultry Project, a landmark agricultural initiative under the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) designed to boost food security, generate $450 million in revenue, and create over 350,000 jobs across the poultry value chain.

The project, which will be implemented through a Special Purpose Vehicle under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF), will commence construction in December 2025. It will cover 10,000 hectares of land, integrating maize and soybean cultivation for feedstock production and large-scale poultry operations.

The announcement was made during a high-level meeting between Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani; the Director-General of NCSP, Joseph Tegbe; and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Yu Dunhai. The engagement focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and China in agriculture and investment, with Kaduna State positioned as a major partner and beneficiary.

Speaking at the meeting, NCSP Director-General, Joseph Tegbe, commended the Kaduna State Government for the swift approval and allocation of over 7,000 hectares of land for the project’s take-off. He described the state’s commitment as exemplary, noting that the initiative would drive economic transformation, lower the cost of poultry products, and enhance local feed production.

“This project represents a major step toward achieving food security, inclusive growth, and sustainable livelihoods. It is a model of how international collaboration can directly impact the lives of our people,” Tegbe said.

Governor Uba Sani described the partnership as a defining step in Kaduna’s mission to attract transformative investments and reinforce its status as Nigeria’s agricultural and industrial hub.

“With agriculture contributing 43 percent to our GDP and employing over 60 percent of our citizens, this project will accelerate our drive toward higher productivity, sustainable growth, and food security,” the governor said. He also thanked President Tinubu for selecting Kaduna as the pilot state, noting that the decision reflects confidence in the state’s stability and leadership in the agricultural sector.

In his remarks, Ambassador Yu Dunhai praised Kaduna State’s leadership and commitment to fostering a conducive environment for global investors. He emphasized that the partnership aligns with China’s goal of supporting Nigeria’s food security and industrialization efforts.

The National Integrated Poultry Project is expected to create 50,000 direct and over 300,000 indirect jobs, supporting thousands of farmers through access to feedstock, training, and supply chain integration.

Governor Sani reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to partnerships that drive inclusive growth, expand employment opportunities, and position Kaduna as the agricultural heart of Nigeria.
